On Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, State Sen. Zellnor Y. Myrie held a community meeting on the upcoming 2020 Census.

In urging folks to come out to the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights, the relatively new politician said, “Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau counts everyone living in the United States. That count determines the amount of federal resources and representation allocated to each community. Brooklyn has been historically undercounted, which means we miss out on critical resources for affordable housing, education, and so much more.” At the meeting he promised that with a panel and community engagement they would “talk about how to change that by getting a full count in Brooklyn in 2020.”
