Helping Harlem children got ready for the first day of school with the resources they need to succeed, Friends of Public Schools Harlem (FPSH)—with a special grant from The Migdol Family Foundation—distributed backpacks and school supplies this week at AK Houses

They will continue the giveaway program throughout Harlem in the coming weeks, distributing more than 4,000 backpacks and kits.

The events were co-sponsored with Congressman Adriano Espaillat, State Senator Brian Benjamin, Assemblyman Robert Rodriguez and City Councilman Bill Perkins.

Hundreds of families received the backpacks and school supplies at each event, leaving happy and ready to start the new school year. More events are scheduled throughout Harlem public housing developments over the next two weeks.
