Greetings! Happy King Day! Apollo Uptown Hall and WNYC present their 12th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, “50 Years After MLK: A Dream Deferred” Sunday, Jan. 14, at 3 p.m. The program explores the progress that has been made in the half-century since Dr. King’s death. Prominent scholars, community leaders and activists will attend, including former attorney and adviser to Dr. King, Dr. Clarence Jones; R. Taylor Branch, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and MLK biographer; Women’s March co-founder Linda Sarsou; Rosa Clemente, activist, scholar and 2008 vice presidential candidate (Green Party); Patrisse Khan-Cullors, co-founder, Black Lives Matter; and Minister Kristen John Foy, president of the Brooklyn Chapter of the National Action Network.
