Malcolm X celebrated on the 52nd anniversary of his death

The community came together Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center in Washington Heights for the 52nd Memorial Anniversary Commemoration for Malcolm X. The day marked when Malcolm X was assassinated at the center that once housed the Audubon Ballroom in 1965. Iman Talib Abdur-Rashid served as host for the event that included prayers and a libation along with performances by Forces of Nature, She-Salt and the Impact Repertory Theater. Members of the Shabazz family were also on hand to address the audience. A panel discussion moderated by Abdur-Rashid featured Dr. Nadia Lopez, Ifeoma Ike, Esq., Dr. Mika’il Abdullah DeVeaux and Fahd Ahmed.
