At New York Fashion Week, timeless elegance collided with a modern edge at Yigal Azrouel’s show. He adorned his runway models in a delicately strong ensemble for spring 2016. The look is about a delicate femininity. There’s romance abounding through floral motifs that evolve throughout Azrouel’s collection of abstract prints.
The details incorporate delicate lace, handcrafted embroidery and intricate accents such as scalloped edging. Yigal is inspired by architectural forms that are injected into his modern, minimalist design elements. There were cut-out shoulders, structured sleeves, framed panels and tiered overlays.
His dimensional layers and shadows are achieved through tonal coloring and contrasting effects. For fabrics, he paired sheer chiffon with silk charmeuse that flows with ease and fluidity. Leather jackets and trim are added for a tough hint of cool that is constantly delivered in doses of confident, effortless sensuality.
For spring-summer 2016, colors and prints offer three moods that include Miami Vice, Calypso and Dream Catcher. Miami Vice is a mix of soft and bright shades that are influenced by Miami Beach. Here, patterns are bold and oversized in geometric, floral or shadow prints. Color blocking is key.
Calypso captures saturated colors of the Caribbean. Red, green, blue and yellow play a vital role in this trend. Shades are intense, often clashing together in bold prints and patterns.
The Dream Catcher color category combines prairie styles with Bohemian fashions. Styles blend together for a whimsical look in the high summer season. Dusted shades are back, along with deep, rich earthy tones. There are intricate prints and patterns here, too.
